Passing
Circle Passing
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
Players spread around the perimeter of a marked rectangle while one player starts under the basket; that player passes to the nearest teammate, who passes it straight back, then rotates to the next closest teammate and repeats until everyone around the perimeter has touched the ball, before pivoting for a layup. Score as many full cycles as possible in 30 seconds, watching that the rush to score doesn't break down proper two-handed passing form. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Passing
The Weave
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A full-court passing braid: three lines at the baseline weave the ball back and forth (pass right, run behind, pass left, run behind) with no dribbling allowed, finishing in a layup at the far end before the rebounder restarts the weave going back. Set a target number of full-court weaves and time how fast the group can complete it. Since the ball can never touch the floor and the rebound must be secured before it bounces, it doubles as a passing-and-catching precision drill under pace. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Footwork
Criss Cross
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A closeout and help-defense drill: one team lines up on the baseline, the other across from them at the three-point line. Each baseline player passes to a teammate, then sprints to close out on a player diagonally or directly across from them, working the closeout footwork (accelerate, chop the feet, get low, one hand up on the shooter, one hand down on the dribble) before the ball reaches the far side and the possession goes live. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Passing
Dean Smith
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A small-sided scrimmage where every basket must come directly off an assist — the shooter has to point to whoever passed them the ball and call out 'nice pass' to make it count. Named for the coaching legend known for building around ball movement, it discourages players from hunting their own shot and reinforces that an assisted look is usually a more open one. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Rebounding
On the Board
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A pure rebounding drill: offense lines up at both elbows, defense at both baseline cones, and every possession is decided purely by who secures the rebound after a live shot attempt — the defense scores for a defensive board, the offense scores for a make or an offensive board. Reinforces boxing out (hips bent, feet wide, arms out) as a skill in its own right, separate from actually taking the shot. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Rebounding
Rebound Relay
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
Two lines race for loose-ball rebounds: the coach intentionally misses a shot from the free-throw line, and the first player from each line under the basket battles for the board, puts it back up, and scores to win the point for their team. Cycle every player through both lines before tallying the winner. Isolates boxing-out fundamentals but adds a competitive, live-ball scramble element. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).

Full-Court Shooting
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A full-court weave variation that adds a shooting wrinkle: after the initial weave finishes in a layup at the far end, the two players who didn't shoot receive a pass and each take an elbow jumper as a brand new weave begins in the other direction. Time how long it takes to complete a full lap of the court and challenge the group to beat their previous time — combining the weave's passing precision with catch-and-shoot reps under fatigue. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Team Play
Champions & Challengers
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A small-sided, defense-first scrimmage rotation with at least three teams: the team that gets a defensive stop stays on to guard the next team, while the team that scores stays on but switches to defense. Flips the usual incentive structure so that stopping the ball, not just scoring, is what earns a team more court time. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Team Play
Buzzer Beater
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
An end-of-game scenario drill: set up a specific situation (e.g., 10 seconds left, offense down one) and let each team either run a coach-drawn play or call their own, then count down loudly as the possession plays out live. Reinforces that a game-winning 'buzzer beater' can just as easily be a defensive stop as a made shot, and gives players reps making decisions under a visible, shrinking clock. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Team Play
Perfect Possession
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A shot-clock drill built entirely around defensive discipline: with a 30-second shot clock running, the defense's only goal is to force the clock to zero without allowing a score or an offensive rebound — any make or offensive board resets the clock and restarts the possession. Reinforces that a 'stop' isn't complete until the ball actually changes hands. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).

Quick Draw
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
Players line up in small groups at the top of three cone triangles; on the coach's directional call (left or right), the front player in each line dribbles to the matching cone and pulls up for a shot, then rebounds and passes to the next player in line. First basket on each turn scores a point, with the most points after a minute winning the round. Because the drill moves fast, keep reinforcing full shooting form — balanced feet, eyes on the rim, elbow in, full follow-through — even under the time pressure. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Team Play
Flying Numbers
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
The coach stands at mid-court with two teams lined up on either side, bounces the ball, and calls out two numbers (like 'two, three') — each team sends out that many players to scrimmage live until a basket is made or the ball goes out of bounds. Calling mismatched numbers (like 3-on-2) works transition offense and defense with or without a numbers advantage, keeping every combination in play. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Team Play
Frequent Flyers
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
Offensive players (outnumbering defenders by two or three) each start at one of five cones spaced around the three-point line, named after different cities; on the coach's call, they attack the rim one at a time, trying to beat a defender rotating out of the paint and score. Scoring from all five 'cities' first wins the round. Since defenders can only guard one attacker at a time, players learn to time their drive for when a defender's attention is elsewhere. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).

7 Spot Shooting
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
Two teams race through seven marked shooting spots (both short corners, both low posts, both elbows, and the free-throw line): players shoot, rebound their own miss or make, and pass to the next teammate in line, needing three makes from a spot before advancing to the next one. First team to bank three makes from all seven spots wins. Reinforces a crisp outlet pass after every rebound so the next shooter is ready to go. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Shooting
Minute to Win It
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
Two teams line up at equally-spaced shooting spots and race against a one-minute clock and a target make count (e.g., 10). Players cycle through shoot-rebound-pass to the next teammate as fast as they can; the team that hits the target first, or is closest when time expires, wins. Since the clock tempts players to rush, keep reminding them that quick shots still need balanced feet, a tucked elbow, and eyes on the rim. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Passing
Good Shot, Great Shot
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A small-sided game (e.g., 4-on-3) that rewards finding the extra pass: the ball handler can pass or shoot but not dribble, and every made shot is scored by the coach as either a 'good shot' (contested, worth one point) or a 'great shot' (wide open, worth two). Because offense outnumbers defense, there's always an open teammate somewhere — the drill teaches players to keep moving the ball until they find them rather than settling for the first contested look. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Finishing
Scoring Duos
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A partner shooting progression built entirely around two-player actions. Partners start with a dribble hand-off into a layup, alternating who drives and who hands off; once a pair makes four, they progress to a dribble hand-off into a jump shot, then finally to a back-door cut off a baseline pass. Challenge players to use as few dribbles as possible on the drive — cleaner, faster ball movement is harder for a defense to steal. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Passing
2 on 1
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
An advantage/disadvantage drill: a pair on offense at the three-point line plays live 2-on-1 against a single defender rotating in from the baseline. Teaches the ball handler to dribble directly at the lone defender to draw them in, which leaves the second offensive player wide open for an easy pass and score. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Shooting · Conditioning
Baseketball
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A baseball-themed relay combining running and shooting: 'shooters' at the free-throw line try to make three baskets (rebounding and passing to the next teammate each time) before a 'runner' from the other team can complete a full lap around a marked rectangle. A completed lap before three makes is a 'home run' worth a point for the runners; three makes first is an 'out' for the shooters. After three outs, teams switch roles. Reinforces shooting under time pressure without sacrificing form. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Finishing · Ball Handling
Wrap Battle
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A head-to-head reaction race: two players at the free-throw line, one ball each, must wrap the ball around their waist three times before attacking to score — first to make a bucket (or grab a miss and put it back) wins the point for their team. Start with layups and progress to jump shots once players have the wrap-and-explode motion down; a low, wide stance while wrapping helps players get moving toward the basket more quickly. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Ball Handling
Pattern Dribbling
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
Players start on the half-court line, each with a ball, and sprint to whichever court line the coach calls out — baseline, sideline, free-throw line, lane line, or three-point line — before returning to the middle. Start with single calls, then chain multiple lines together as players improve, and consider renaming the lines after players' favorite characters to keep younger kids engaged. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Ball Handling
Construction Site
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A two-team dribbling game with a twist: 'builders' try to stand cones back upright while 'bulldozers' try to knock them down, all while every player keeps dribbling their own ball. Play short, timed rounds and count standing vs. knocked-over cones to determine the winning side. Guarding a single cone isn't allowed, which keeps everyone moving and scanning the floor instead of camping in one spot. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Ball Handling · Conditioning
Snake
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A group tag game: one volunteer starts as the 'snake' with no ball while everyone else dribbles freely in a half-court space; anyone tagged sets their ball aside and joins the snake, growing the chain each round. The game continues until the snake has tagged every dribbler, and since the chain has to stay linked to make a tag count, it becomes as much about the snake communicating and coordinating together as it is about the dribblers evading. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Warm-up · Ball Handling · Conditioning
Gimme Five
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A dribbling warm-up that doubles as an icebreaker: everyone dribbles around a half-court space and tries to high-five as many teammates as possible with their non-dribbling hand in a 30-second round. Play multiple short rounds and challenge players to beat their previous high-five count — a low-pressure way to get beginners comfortable dribbling with their head up and eyes open instead of watching the ball. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
