Rebounding
2v2 Helpside Rebounding
Video by BreakthroughBBall
A half-court 2-on-2 shooting and rebounding drill where the coach controls pace by calling out ball skips; defenders have to close out, recover, and talk through help responsibilities each time the ball moves before a shot goes up. Whoever is on defense at the shot must box out and secure the defensive rebound to earn their turn on offense. This drill comes from BreakthroughBBall.
Passing
2v0 Offense
Video by BreakthroughBBall
An unopposed two-player pass-and-cut progression that teaches spacing before defense gets added: pass and cut to the rim, fill the vacated spot, and read whether to cut hard or pop back out based on whether the passer is showing them the ball. Includes back-door reads for an overplayed cutter and finishes with crashing the offensive glass for put-backs. This drill comes from BreakthroughBBall.

The Floor Is Lava
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A partner passing game played on a half court scattered with cones ('islands') about five feet apart. Pairs share a ball and can only pass and catch while standing on an island — no dribbling allowed, since the floor is lava. After passing, a player must run to a new open island before they can receive the next pass. Play short, timed rounds and have pairs try to beat their own pass count each round. Reinforces two-handed passing form: step toward the target and follow through with both arms. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).

Sleeping Giant
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A dribbling and speed-control game. Players line up on the baseline, each with a ball; cones ('treasure') are scattered near half court where the coach stands as the 'sleeping giant' with their back turned. On go, players dribble toward the treasure; whenever the giant turns around, everyone must jump-stop and freeze — anyone caught still moving goes back to the baseline. Once a player grabs a piece of treasure, the giant wakes up and chases everyone back to the baseline, trying to tag them. First player to bank three pieces of treasure wins. Remind players that in a real game, standing still without dribbling is a travel. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Shooting
Spelling Bee
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A shooting relay for groups of three or four, lined up about 10 feet from the basket (use a lowered hoop if needed). Pick an age-appropriate word before starting. The first player in each line shoots, gets their own rebound, then dribbles back and passes to the next teammate in line. Every time a player on a team makes a shot, the group shouts out the next letter of their word — first team to spell it out wins the round. Coaches should keep an eye on shooting form since players get excited about the spelling: balanced feet, eyes on the rim, elbow in, full follow-through with a wrist snap. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).

Red Light, Green Light
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A classic reaction game adapted for dribbling. Everyone starts at a baseline with a ball. On 'green light' players speed dribble forward; on 'yellow light' they slow down; on 'red light' they jump-stop and bring the ball into triple-threat position at the waist. Once players reach the far line they turn around and keep going. After a round or two, add a wildcard color tied to a bonus action (e.g., jumping jacks with the ball) to keep it fresh. Reinforces fingertip control and keeping the ball low. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).

Tunnel Ball
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A two-team relay combining shooting and dribbling, set up about 10 feet from a (lowered, if needed) basket. One team ('tunnelers') sits on the ground facing away from the baseline with legs spread to form a tunnel; the other team ('shooters') lines up at the cone. On go, shooters take turns shooting, rebounding their own shot, and passing to the next teammate, scoring a point per make, while at the same time the tunnelers roll a ball down their human tunnel — once it reaches the end, that player sprint-dribbles to the front and the tunnel resets. Shooting stops once every tunneler has had a turn at the front; then teams switch roles and try to beat their score. Watch shooting form (balanced feet, eyes on rim, elbow in, full follow-through) since the tunnel action nearby is distracting. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Ball Handling
Ducktails
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A dribbling tag game. Every player dribbles a ball with a flag-football-style penny tucked into their waistband like a tail, inside the three-point line. On go, everyone dribbles around trying to pull as many other players' tails as they can while protecting their own; losing your tail doesn't put you out, you just keep dribbling and try to grab more. Whoever is holding the most tails when time is called wins the round. Since beginners tend to watch the ball, remind them to keep their head up and eyes forward while dribbling. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Passing
Hit The Cone
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A small-sided scrimmage with no hoops. Mark a rectangular playing area with a cone standing at each end and split players into two teams of three to five. Instead of shooting at a basket, the offense scores by using the ball to knock over the opposing team's cone; a defensive stop turns the ball over and that team attacks the other cone. Play short, timed rounds and keep score. Without a hoop to shoot at, the game naturally shifts the focus onto ball movement and finding the open teammate, since more passing makes it easier to get a clean look at the cone. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Ball Handling
Globetrotters
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A circle dribbling drill. Set one cone per player in a large circle and give everyone a ball. Players dribble around the circle and, on the coach's call, all switch to the same move at once — right-hand pound dribbles, low or high dribbles, figure eights, crossovers, or non-dominant-hand dribbling. Optionally assign a bonus action (like jumping jacks) to perform at each cone. Even as moves get harder, keep reinforcing proper form: small, low dribbles controlled with the fingertips. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Ball Handling
Gates Dribbling
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A self-paced dribbling drill. Set up roughly twice as many cone 'gates' as you have players, scattered across a half court. Everyone dribbles their own ball and tries to pass through as many gates as possible in one minute, changing direction quickly after each gate to find the next one. Have players count and try to beat their own total in the next round. Cue players to keep dribbles low and controlled, and heads up so they can spot the next gate rather than watching the ball. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Conditioning
Hungry Hungry Caterpillar
Video by MOJO (yougotmojo)
A cooperative relay for teams of three to five. Each team lines up facing the same direction and balances a basketball between their chest and the back of the teammate in front of them, forming a 'caterpillar.' On go, the team shuffles forward together toward a checkpoint; if anyone uses their hands or a ball drops, the whole team returns to the last checkpoint they reached. First team to cross the finish line wins. Because one player speeding up or slowing down breaks the chain, it's really a communication and coordination exercise more than a skill drill. This drill comes from MOJO (yougotmojo).
Conditioning
One-on-One (Half Court)
Video by Teach Hoops
A full-court 1-on-1 series run in three stages with a defender zigzagging back on defense. Stage one: defense starts behind and just tries to recover without fouling, ideally forcing a difficult shot or drawing a charge. Stage two: defense starts even and the goal shifts to forcing a jump shot rather than a layup. Stage three: defense starts ahead and must keep the ball out of the paint entirely. Between reps, both players zigzag back to half court, working closeout footwork (head below shoulders, hands active) and conditioning at the same time. This drill comes from Teach Hoops.

5 by 4
Video by Teach Hoops
A post-move shooting drill with four active stations: a post player in the paint, two wing passers, and a rebounder. The post runs through five moves — drop step, baby hook, power slide, up-and-under, and a face-up jumper — with four reps of each move fed by the wings. After every rep the post sprints to touch half court or the baseline before resetting, so the drill doubles as conditioning. Add a defender in the post or on a wing once you have extra players to make it live. This drill comes from Teach Hoops.

Two-Ball Dribbling
Video by Teach Hoops
A progression of two-basketball dribbling moves done down and back the court: straight speed dribble, a hesitation ('slow and go'), simultaneous crossover, behind-the-back, and between-the-legs moves, then a freestyle mix of all of them. The closer is a reactive 'yo-yo' drill where players mirror a ball handler moving toward and away from them, retreating and advancing on cue. Keep the ball low and the head up throughout; once a move gets easy, make it harder with mismatched ball sizes or by dribbling on grass. This drill comes from Teach Hoops.
Finishing
One-on-One (Marquette)
Video by Teach Hoops
Two chair-based variations of 1-on-1. In the first, two players start on opposite sides of a chair or cone away from the basket; the coach or a passer starts the possession and it immediately goes live, offense attacking the rim while defense recovers. In the second, a chair is set at the elbow and the coach delivers the ball unpredictably — a bounce pass, a lob, a shot off the rim — so whoever reacts fastest becomes the offensive player. There are no out-of-bounds rules in the second variation, which keeps it fast, competitive, and forces players to react rather than think. This drill comes from Teach Hoops.

Lakers
Video by Teach Hoops
A continuous 3-player, full-court passing and layup drill. The first player outlets off the glass, passes to a teammate sprinting the wing, then follows the pass to fill that spot; the shooter follows the shot to fill the next spot. Everyone rotates through passer, shooter, and rebounder, alternating which side the ball goes to each trip. Coaches emphasize calling out teammates' names on every pass, sprinting the full length of the floor, and taking the ball out of bounds after a make, just like in a game. Swap the layup for a mid-range jumper to make it a shooting-and-conditioning combo drill. This drill comes from Teach Hoops.
